Chochmah חכמה · Wisdom
The first flash of insight – the moment a whole idea appears at once, before any detail. Heads the right, sharing column. In daily life: The "aha" that comes in the shower. Learn to notice it.
Binah בינה · Understanding
Where the flash of Wisdom is developed, analyzed and given form, like a womb that shapes a seed. Heads the left column. Associated with the energy of return and renewal. In daily life: Turning inspiration into a plan.
Chesed חסד · Mercy
Expansive, unconditional giving and love. Pure sharing with no limits. On its own it can overflow – giving what isn't needed or wanted. In daily life: Generosity. Too much becomes people-pleasing.
Gevurah גבורה · Judgment
Strength, discipline, boundaries and restraint – the power to say no. Necessary, but without mercy it becomes harshness. In daily life: Healthy boundaries. Too much becomes criticism.
Tiferet תפארת · Beauty
The heart of the Tree, balancing Mercy and Judgment into harmony and compassion. The central column is the path Rav Berg described as the way to live. In daily life: Kindness with a spine. Truth told with love.
Netzach נצח · Victory
Endurance, drive and persistence – the energy that keeps going. Extends Chesed toward action. In daily life: Grit. Showing up again tomorrow.
Hod הוד · Glory
Receptivity, reflection and surrender – knowing when to yield. Extends Gevurah toward humility. In daily life: Listening. Letting go of being right.
Yesod יסוד · Foundation
The funnel that gathers all the energies above and channels them into our world. Associated with connection and with the moon, which reflects light it receives. In daily life: Where intention becomes action.
Malchut מלכות · Kingdom
Our physical world – the 1 Percent – where the Light finally manifests. The only Sefirah with no light of its own: it receives. It's also where the work of transformation happens. In daily life: Your actual Tuesday. Where it all counts.
Wider context
The Sefirot first appear in Sefer Yetzirah and are developed in the Zohar and in the teaching of Rabbi Isaac Luria. Diagrams of the Tree vary between schools, and some count Da’at (Knowledge) in place of Keter. This layout follows a common modern arrangement.
